Traditional Sweet Scones
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 5 tablespoons cold butter, cut in pieces
- 4 fluid ounces milk
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 425º F. Grease a baking sheet. Sift the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, powder, and salt) into a bowl and mix evenly. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Pour in the milk and stir with a fork until the dough starts to stick together. Use your hands to get the dough to have an even consistency if necessary. Roll out to about 1/4 of an inch thick and stamp out 2 1/2-inch rounds with a biscuit cutter. Put on the sheet and bake about 12 minutes. Serve fresh from the oven with butter and/or jam.
