Vanilla-Fudge Marble Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 2/3 cup chocolate-flavored syrup
Instructions:
Grease and flour 10-inch fluted tube pan. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Separately, beat butter. Add sugar and vanilla to butter; beat until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Alternately add flour mix and buttermilk to the butter mix. Reserve 2 cups of batter. Spread remainder in the pan. Add chocolate syrup to reserved batter. Pour chocolate batter over vanilla batter, and drag a knife through to mix the two colors up, but DO NOT stir together. Bake at 350º F for 50 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes, then remove from pan and cool. Drizzle with icing if desired.
