Honey-Bun French Toast
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 2/3 cup apple cider
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- A pinch of ground allspice
- 6 slices white or egg bread, with or without crusts
- Honey or maple syrup for serving
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400º F. Put the butter and the honey in the bottom of a 12 x 9 glass pan and heat until butter melts and honey bubbles. Mix it together evenly and add pecans. Whisk together the cider, eggs, and spices. Soak the bread in the egg mix thoroughly, then arrange on top of the nuts in the baking pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes until tops are golden-brown and the bottom is bubbly.
NOTE: I did not use pecans because I don't like nuts in foods like this. It came out fine, so I consider the nuts optional even though the recipe didn't indicate this.
