Devil's Food Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/3 cups cold water
Instructions:
Grease and flour pan(s). Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Separately, beat shortening. Add vanilla and sugar to the shortening. Then add eggs, one at a time. Add the flour mixture and the water to the mix, in shifts alternately while stirring. Pour into pan(s). Bake at 350º F for 35-40 minutes.
Yield: 12 servings
