Brown Sugar Drops
Ingredients:
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or water
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Mix together the shortening, sugar, and eggs and beat up good. Stir in the milk. In another bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then blend it right into the sugar mix. Chill the mixture for about an hour. Preheat the oven to 400º F. Drop rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on a greased sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
NOTE: For a variation, you can mix gumdrops in for jeweled cookies!
Yield: 6 dozen
